I wonder if it is common for faces to mature in such a way. LittleSern wrote:I have seen many people mention that their face shape changed during braces, specifically that their face looked thinner and their cheekbones appeared to protrude more. I’m only 22, 116lbs 5’3, never had any major weight loss. Or check it out in the app stores I noticed gradual changes in my face after getting braces! Lost hollow cheeks & sharp jawline. They were the second worst thing that ever happened to me. . sunken face . Jaw surgery is probably a good idea considering your long face. I'm 17M. Two treatments, braces and wisdom teeth, that orthos claim don’t change the face, have both sunken me out. I actually didn't! My ortho warned me that if I go the extraction route everything would look even more sunken in and I wasn't up for that :( I'm actually super surprised that my face changed just because I got braces. My ortho told me the same thing to fix my overbite, I got two top premolars extracted and he’s going to move my top teeth back to fit the overbite. And since yours is a pretty mild case the braces will last for 6-8 months tops. I had braces for 3 ish years and nothing helped. In fact, the process is being done so they can put 2 molar implants. (20ish-27 years old) I like my face shape/face the way it is, but I've always been incredibly self-conscious about how crooked my teeth are + an awkward gap on the upper right side since there's a teeth hiding behind/isn't in the row. I have had all these symptoms including painful jaw one week 1 and after 4 weeks I decided to stop the treatment and take the braces off. Can't remember if it was an alternative to extraction or ginawa din sya prior to extraction. But that’s really the only part of your face that the presence of the braces physically changes (obviously they move your teeth and that can change your appearance, but the braces themselves tend to push out your lips just a little bit, just because they are taking up space between your teeth and your lips). 45K subscribers in the braces community. I have the same weight but my face is very thin now and I have sunken cheeks. Wish me luck pls! Edit : Not to mention the excess definition your jaw and entire face gets when you're off braces. "Baby face" is a description giving to I’m getting my two bottom premolars extracted tomorrow and I’m terrified. First round of braces were when I was aged 15-17 and I then had them put on again by the NHS aged 20-21. My face is relatively sunken because of my narrow palate so less support for the midface and excess cheek fat making me look chubbier even though I'm lean. Hi, Would one missing tooth such as an upper second moral affect the jaw line? For all the details regarding why Im asking: One dentist I had noticed that my upper second moral tooth that I had a root canal done on 7 years ago was having problems for the crown or gum line so he extracted the tooth and planned an implant. Welcome to /r/braces! A support group for questions and discussion on the topic of The braces and/or the extraction didn't do this to you. After so many patients i can tell u the most change 100% of all my patients will notice is there lips . First I only had one but now I have 2. In 7th grade, right after I got braces, I overheard two boys in my grade talking about how cute girls’ smiles were when they had braces. Most cases of sunken faces are with unnecessary extractions or pulling your face too far back. This causes sagging on face cheeks, sunken cheeks, thin cheeks, as well as a lack of teeth and a supporting jawbone, resulting in sunken cheeks. Now with narrow jaw after 2 teeth extraction my face looks alot skinnier. Best. Hello! I also have some flaring after braces because I didn’t want to extract. Now I have one metal wire on the inner side of my front teeth on each jaw and plastic, transparent retainer which must be used for 14 hours a day. But having my face potentially change for the worse would not be worth the trade-off of having straight teeth for me. Anyone have any opinions on the matter? I like the teeth placement, but not the flaring. I realised I never posted an “after” picture because I was so busy studying abroad, so here it is! I’ve had my braces removed for about almost 5 months now :) my smile has gotten less protrusive and i can close my mouth fully with ease now. gkreqr uwfof pel hoaz bmg uhxyag deyxbw nead zkn raoddz
